And I still did not get enough rest. Probably because I drove over 18 hours this weekend on a road trip to Eugene, OR then to the Oregon coast before returning home. I needed a much needed getaway and visiting my old college campus and seeing my college friends made this long weekend the perfect opportunity to do just that.
The roads up north were uncongested and it was smooth sailing in both directions. I suppose no one wanted to travel due to the high gas prices. At one point in my trip, I stopped in Dunsmuir and paid a whopping $3.20 for unleaded. I knew I was being taken but what do you do when you have to be somewhere?
Eugene is so beautiful this time of year. Walking through the campus was pleasant and reminiscing about the good ol' days when I was young and carefree. Such good times. Who would have thought that 9 years later, I'm where I am today. Divorced, with a dog in a half empty house and debt up to my ears.
This is what road trips force you to do especially when you're driving alone with a dog in the back seat that can't communicate a word of English; think about life and wonder what can be improved.
