Made plans on a whim

So, last friday, I made spur of the moment plans to have dinner and a couple games of bowling with Jerry, one of the TnT participants I met several weeks before. He's a friendly guy and I enjoyed his company.

This friday, I again, had nothing planned. I couldn't possibly bug my friends to go out with me and after receiving engagement news from Irene and Scott over the weekend, I felt a little down and out. Seems like everyone's getting engaged this year. I'm happy for them all but hell, I'm not going to spend a friday evening moping around my house feeling depressed.

Back to CL and surfing, I spot a post from a guy looking for a "new female friend" to join him at the Foo Fighters/Weezer concert Friday evening at the Oakland arena. I figured, why not? I responded to his post and assumed I would not hear back. After all, he's offering a free concert ticket in exchange for food and beer. Still a good deal for the woman.

I received a response...

"It's an interesting process posting on CL. I received many replies, but so far not by anybody seriously interested in going it would seem. I may yet receive more replies but I would like to just find someone who truly wants to go and be done.

I actually have several Weezer cd's, and still think their first one was the best. I have no Foo Fighters cd's but thought it would be a good double bill.

Anyway, let me know if you are still interested and we can connect some time on Wednesday.

Thanks,
JD"

Okay, that's cool. I wrote back with an offer to buy the ticket and just split the food and beer like most friends would do and see who he decides to go with.

Low and behold, I find out that I'm the only responder that OFFERED to buy the ticket. And yes, he would be dumb to not accept my offer and take someone else who is looking for a free date.

Why did I offer to buy the ticket? Because I want to go see Weezer anyway and I know I'll have fun at the concert no matter who I go with. I just don't want to go alone. And I now have plans on a Friday night!
