Hello, my name is......and I am a chat addict

I can't help myself sometimes. I'm lonely like every other person out there. What can I say? I'm not sitting at home feeling sorry for myself. I have my dog, who keeps me company. I go for hikes, I play on a softball team, I hang out with friends on weekdays for dinner. I go to music concerts. I'd like to think I have a busy social life. So, why am I chatting to complete strangers? Am I really that much of a pathetic loser?

Well, if I am, then all the people that respond to my chat ad on CL must be feeling the same way also. It's amusing how I can get so caught up with chatting online. It is an addiction with a pattern.

Here's mine:
I stopped communication with the married jerk and I'm bored. So, I post a strictly platonic ad to chat only. I get a handful of responses. I randomly pick and choose who I would want to chat with and IM them. A week and a half ago, I choose three. My usual standard since I can't hold a simultaneous online conversation with more than three people. Since then, I have stopped communicating with one. The other one rarely shoots me an IM and the last one, I'm still regularly chatting with.

This is always the case. There is one stand out and I keep the conversation going with that one person. Last Nov, it was the married jerk and that lasted up to recently. A month ago, it was Hugh. I ended that fairly abruptly after we met for drinks. Now, it is Chris.

Chris, whom I haven't met nor swapped pictures like the other two before him, seems to be a nice guy. Well, they are all nice guys at the beginning. But they have one thing in common and that they are all horny. No surprise there. Though Chris, I do like, more than the others. Not because he's single, and has his shit together, but we have some things in common, like running. What I wonder is why, at 37 yrs of age, this guy has never been married. There must be something wrong with this picture. Or maybe there isn't. I don't know. I'll have to find out. Might as well keep chatting w/ him.

See my problem?
