Just when I needed my "Stop" sign

Alcohol on a near empty stomach can bring out the worst in me. After having two pale ales to loosen up and try to enjoy myself at The Ramp party in my near cover-up "Crossing Guard" costume, I would have danced with my friend, Jerry, who graciously stood by me and kept me company for the better part of the evening. Alas, the creepy, short guy I spotted staring at me when I first arrived at the bar, came into view and asked me for a dance. And since I'm so polite and an all-around nice person, I didn't think to decline when I really should have.

How come I attract these losers? Every party I've gone to, it's always the short, creepy guys that want to put their hands all over me. Or the "old enough to be my dad", dirty white men that think I would be amused by tickling a stupid stuffed monkey on his back. Are these people so overconfident that they can just do that? What's wrong with the taller, respectable men I'm attracted to? Why aren't they coming up to me? Because all the men I'm attracted to are hitting up the women that are wearing revealing clothing and walking around with an air of "I'm worth a fuck" confidence. I'm confident. But I don't need to flaunt myself for attention.

So, this short, creepy guy was a jerk. He tried to grab my hand and pull me farther and farther into the dance floor crowd where the majority were just milling and mingling rather than dancing. I continually pulled my hands and arms away from him and even went so far as to make a fist. "Is something in your hand?" he asked me. He didn't take the hint. I should have had my stop sign with me. Maybe he would have got it then. Obviously, the jerk was intoxicated and was in a touchy feely mood. I don't want to be touched so don't grab my hand and act like you know me. And he wouldn't stop and I got fed up and bluntly told him that I'm done dancing and I'm returning to my friends. So, I left him on the dance floor before he had a chance to follow me.

When I finally made my way to a more breathable environment, Jerry and his two buddies were nowhere in sight. That was it. I decided to head home. Craig spotted me and came over and soon after, Jerry dropped by. I told them what happened and that I had enough and would be going home.

I felt bad about leaving and not giving Jerry at least one dance but I wasn't in any mood to hang out longer than necessary. When I got to my car, said my goodbyes, and headed home, the remnants of alcohol still in my system brought up a ton of emotions and I broke down crying while driving. This wasn't a good idea since I could barely see more than 50 feet past my windshield and watery eyes doesn't help visibility. But cry I did, all the way home.
