Einmal ist Keinmal

Literal translation: Once is never. Milan Kundera fans or people who have read "the Unbearable Lightness of Being" will understand this phrase in Kundera's novel. One's experience and actions can not be applied to another situation however similar because each event is different. Something occurring might as well have never happened at all. It can never be repeated. Would I want anything to be repeated though? Probably not.

There are other subjects in the novel that was touched upon, namely relationships between people. And re-reading the story again puts my past relationship in a different light. Seems as though it was all for not. Everything is irrelevant. He is irrelevant. Like a passing ship that stopped just short of the harbor before moving on. A one time, fleeting experience that will be replaced by another and yet, another. Life can be so insignificant in the grand scheme of things except with oneself.
